Pequannock __ Pequannock Fire Department Company 1 held a "wet down" Saturday to christen its newest rescue truck.

More then 1,500 people attended the event at the Jackson Avenue firehouse, which included barbecue food, a DJ and a dunk tank, according to Holly Lyon, a 15 year member of the department.

Lyon said the 2009 Pierce Impel  Rescue truck was purchased in 2009 for $434,000 and has been in service since October. It replaced a 1987 Ford truck, she said.
The company's fleet also includes two fire engines, a small utility truck and two boats.

Firefighters from several nearby towns, including Riverdale, Roxbury and Mine Hill, attended the event.
